October 22β25, 2026 Vegas, Baby!
You already had a great plan: red rock and history one day, the iconic stuff the next, and a big birthday night in the middle of it all. I kept your structure and filled in the logistics, timing, and a few extras. Anything marked Optional is a bonus, not a must. Drive times marked β est. are my estimates, so check live traffic in Google Maps the day of.
Arrive, settle in, grocery run, pool time. Fremont Street tonight if your arrival allows.
Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, St. Thomas ghost town, Valley of Fire, and the special Fire Wave moon hike.
Seven Magic Mountains, Pawn Stars, AREA15, a pool break, then Lacy's big Strip night.
Breakfast, pack up, follow checkout instructions, and fly home with stories.
5255 Barbara Way, Las Vegas, NV 89119
Close to the airport and UNLV with easy driving access to the Strip, so you get a quiet, private base with your own backyard pool for recovery time between adventures.
Ease in. Tomorrow is a big, early day.
Check in using the property's instructions, claim bedrooms, and do a quick walk-through of the pool and hot tub.
Stock up once so Friday morning is easy: breakfast basics and coffee, a case or two of bottled water, electrolyte packets, sunscreen, picnic lunch and dinner supplies for Friday's desert day (there's no food for sale inside Valley of Fire beyond small visitor center snacks), a cooler or ice packs, and poolside drinks and snacks.
October afternoons are often warm enough for a swim (check whether the pool is heated), and the hot tub is perfect once the desert cools off after sunset.
Thursday is the best slot for your Fremont night, since Friday runs late and Saturday is the birthday Strip night. Full plan in the Fremont section.
Swing by the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign (it's lit at night), cruise the Strip once, then grab a late bite and get to bed. Use rideshare if anyone is drinking.
Hoover Dam Β· Lake Mead Β· St. Thomas Β· Valley of Fire Β· Fire Wave moon hike
Cooler packed with water, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Gas up before leaving town since services are very limited along Northshore Road.
A Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives classic in historic Boulder City, open daily 6 AMβ2 PM. Or eat at the house and head straight to the dam.
The parking garage on the Nevada side opens at 8 AM ($10 per vehicle). The Visitor Center opens at 9 AM. Walk the top of the dam (you can step from Nevada into Arizona), see the Winged Figures of the Republic, and if time allows, walk out on the Mike O'CallaghanβPat Tillman Memorial Bridge for the classic view looking down on the dam.
Tour options at publication: self-guided Visitor Center $15, Guided Power Plant Tour $25 adults (sold online), Guided Dam Tour $40 (on-site only and it sells out). The Power Plant Tour is the best fit for today's schedule. Expect security screening, and no pocketknives in any building. America the Beautiful passes are not accepted here.
Enter Lake Mead National Recreation Area and drive north along the lake through colorful desert canyons. Stop at roadside overlooks as you like and have your picnic lunch along the way. Allow roughly 1Β½ hours of driving from the dam to St. Thomas β est., plus stops.
Entrance: $25 per private vehicle, valid 7 days. The park is cashless (card only). Buy the pass ahead on Recreation.gov to save time.
Turn onto Old St. Thomas Access Road just past mile post 46 on Northshore Road and drive the dirt road (about 3.5 miles) to the trailhead. The loop is about 2.5 miles round trip with roughly 85 feet of elevation change, passing the old schoolhouse foundation, cisterns, and town streets marked by interpretive signs. Plan 1Β½β2 hours. The NPS notes the trail is not maintained, with sand, uneven ground, and very little shade. Vault toilets at the trailhead.
Check the road condition first and check your rental agreement, since many rental contracts restrict driving on unpaved roads. Taking anything from the site, even glass fragments, is illegal.
Enter through the east entrance (about 20 minutes from St. Thomas β est.). Entry is $15 per out-of-state vehicle ($10 Nevada plates), paid at the kiosk. See Elephant Rock near the east entrance, then drive Mouse's Tank Road/White Domes Road for Rainbow Vista and the colorful canyon views. The visitor center closes at 4 PM, so treat it as a bonus if you're running early. Sunset is around 5:55 PM, when the sandstone really does look like it's on fire. Have your picnic dinner near the Fire Wave trailhead (parking lot P3).
The special event is the reason you can be in the park after dark tonight. Details below. π
Exit through the west entrance (open Fridays) to I-15 South. About 60β75 minutes back to the house β est.. Your designated driver should be fresh, as this is a long day.
Nevada State Parks lines the Fire Wave trail with tealights for a self-guided night walk to the famous striped sandstone formation. What a way to cap off the day!
Same as Option A.
Lakeshore and Northshore Roads to the Valley of Fire turnoff. If you're curious about St. Thomas, a quick look at the trailhead is possible, but the ruins themselves are down the trail.
Visitor center before 4 PM, Elephant Rock, Atlatl Rock petroglyphs, Mouse's Tank, White Domes, and the Fire Wave hike in daylight (best colors in late afternoon).
Leave the park by sunset since the park closes at sunset outside of special events and camping. Then Fremont Street, or pizza in the hot tub. Both are great answers.
| Stop | Cost (per vehicle unless noted) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hoover Dam parking garage | $10 | Opens 8 AM. Tours are extra and priced per person. |
| Lake Mead NRA entrance | $25 | Valid 7 days. Card only. America the Beautiful pass accepted here. |
| Valley of Fire State Park | $15 out-of-state ($10 NV) | Pay at the entrance kiosk. Moon hike included. |
| St. Thomas | Covered by Lake Mead pass | Open sunrise to sunset. |
Prices verified on official sites at time of writing (October 2026) and subject to change.
Best slot: Thursday night if you land by mid-afternoon. Backup: Friday night if you choose Option B. Please don't try to squeeze it in after the moon hike. You'll be tired, and it deserves fresh legs. If it doesn't fit, it's the perfect swap for the nightclub portion of Saturday.
About 15β25 minutes from the house β est.. Skip driving tonight.
The canopy over the pedestrian mall turns into a giant music-and-light show. The street's casino lights dim and everyone looks up. Catch two or three shows from different spots.
Street performers, vintage casino signs, and the Golden Nugget, Binion's, and Circa are all right there.
Walk east past Las Vegas Boulevard to the cocktail bars: Atomic Liquors (Vegas' oldest freestanding bar, opened 1954), Commonwealth with its rooftop, and Downtown Cocktail Room.
Optional SlotZilla zipline: fly under the canopy from a 12-story slot-machine tower. Tickets are extra. Check times & prices.
Optional Rick's Rollin' Smoke BBQ & Tavern at Pawn Plaza: just south of Fremont next to the Pawn Stars shop. The pawn shop's own site says Rick bartends there on Friday and Saturday nights, so this is your best shot at a Pawn Stars sighting if you do Fremont on Friday.
Optional Hash House A Go Go at the Plaza anchors the west end of Fremont if anyone wants a big late meal.
Seven Magic Mountains first (it's the farthest south), then work your way north.
Seven towers of neon-painted boulders, each 30+ feet tall, in the open desert. It's free and open sunrise to sunset, with a dirt parking lot. Walk around all seven and back up into the desert for the shot with every tower in it. Climbing is prohibited. The installation's land lease runs through December 2026, so you're catching it in its original spot.
Birthday-sash photo time! There's a free parking lot in the median, accessible from the southbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard. Mornings usually mean a shorter line.
A neon, retro Vegas icon right on the Strip, en route north. Big portions and a fun spot for a first birthday-morning cocktail.
Open daily 10 AMβ5:30 PM. It's free to visit and parking is free. Photos are welcome, but no video inside and no photos toward the pawn counter on your left as you enter (state law). Cast appearances are unscheduled, but a guaranteed Meet & Greet bundle ($59, includes merch) runs Thursday through Saturday at 1 PM or 2 PM.
Heads-up: the shop's website is promoting a Pawn Stars Poker Run on Saturday, October 24. If that's this year's event, expect a busier (and more festive) shop.
About 10β15 minutes away β est.. AREA15 is an immersive art and entertainment district with free parking, and general wandering is free. Saturday hours are noonβ10 PM. The headliner is Omega Mart, a surreal "grocery store" full of secret portals and hidden rooms (plan 1Β½β3 hours, tickets from about $59). There's a 21+ secret bar inside for the birthday girl. October also brings Halloween programming.
Swim, nap, hydrate, eat a snack (seriously), and get glammed up. Park the rental car for the night. Everyone rides rideshare from here.
Everything below sits in one walkable stretch of the center Strip (Cosmopolitan β Bellagio β Paris β LINQ), so once you're dropped off, you can stroll it all.
Lacy's first legal Vegas cocktail inside a three-story bar wrapped in 2 million sparkling crystals. Level 1 is open 24 hours and Level 1.5 (the craft-cocktail level) opens at 5 PM. Walk-ups are welcome.
Walk across to Paris Las Vegas for dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant (or Mon Ami Gabi for a lighter budget). See Where to Eat.
Free shows run frequently through the evening until midnight. Watch one from the sidewalk rail right in front of the lake.
Walk about 15 minutes north to the LINQ Promenade β est.. It's a 30-minute ride 550 feet above the Strip in a glass cabin with an open bar and bartender. 21+ only (bring ID). Friday through Sunday, last boarding is 1:30 AM. Recent online prices ran roughly $55β$85 per person depending on time, and booking ahead online is cheaper than the walk-up box office.
See the Bucket List for nightclub and private karaoke options. Then rideshare home together.
Slow morning, easy goodbye.
Use up the groceries at the house, or go out for brunch at Hash House A Go Go (LINQ) or Mon Ami Gabi's fountain-view patio.
Follow the property's checkout steps from your Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy confirmation. Do a final sweep for chargers, IDs, sunglasses, and that birthday sash.
A quick pool dip before checkout, the Welcome sign if you missed it, or souvenir shopping. Return the rental car with extra time, since Las Vegas airport rental returns can involve a shuttle.
I started from a local's 21st-birthday guide and kept only the ideas that fit your weekend and your route. Venues, prices, and promos change, so confirm before you book.
An open bar 550 feet above the Strip with views in every direction. Probably the most "only in Vegas" 30 minutes of the trip.
Book online βThe prettiest bar in Vegas for a first legal drink. Tip: the Cosmopolitan bartenders know about the off-menu "secret" drink. Just ask!
See the menu βEiffel Tower Restaurant above the Bellagio Fountains. Mention the birthday when you book and ask about the celebration packages.
Dinner options βBirthday sash at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. A sash is a classic Vegas move and a great conversation starter.
Photo guide βOld-school neon and live music under the canopy, then Fremont East's cocktail bars. A totally different energy from the Strip.
Fremont plan βMeow Wolf's Omega Mart at AREA15 doubles as your "show." Plus Lacy can visit its hidden 21+ bar.
AREA15 βRedTail at Resorts World (north Strip) has three private karaoke rooms inside a 21+ social lounge with drinks and games. Great for five friends who want their own room. Hours vary by day, so check and reserve ahead.
π RedTail βOMNIA (Caesars Palace, a short walk from the High Roller), Marquee (The Cosmopolitan), and Hakkasan (MGM Grand) all have October programming. Get on a guest list ahead of time. XS at Wynn is closed for renovation until November 5, 2026, so skip that one this trip.
OMNIA βYou have something most 21st-birthday groups don't: a private pool. Sunday-morning birthday mimosas by the pool cost a fraction of a dayclub.
Price guide (estimates per person before drinks): $ under $20 Β· $$ $20β40 Β· $$$ $40β80 Β· $$$$ $80+
Floor-to-ceiling windows on the 11th floor of the Eiffel Tower look straight down at the Bellagio Fountains, which is exactly the kind of "wow" a 21st deserves. Window tables can be guaranteed when booking. The restaurant offers special-occasion packages and expects dressy attire.
Reservations require a credit card. Request a window and mention Lacy's birthday. Book early for a party of five.
Same fountain-view magic at a friendlier price. The Strip-side patio is directly across from the Bellagio Fountains and is a people-watching favorite. Indoor reservations are available, but patio seating is first-come, first-served, so arrive early and put your name in.
Right next door to the Pawn Stars shop, so it's an easy Saturday lunch or Fremont-night bite. Rick is known to bartend here on Friday and Saturday nights. No reservations needed.
π MapGrab-and-go and casual options right inside the district, so you don't have to leave to eat. Oddwood is the cocktail lounge.
See diningNorthshore Road and Valley of Fire have very limited services, so pack lunch, dinner, and more water than you think you'll need. Shaded picnic areas are scattered through Valley of Fire.
A neon-and-velvet Vegas icon since 1972, featured in the movie Casino. Huge plates, a playful 1970s vibe, and an on-the-way stop between the Welcome sign and the pawn shop.
π Map & hoursFriday's perfect pre-Hoover breakfast. Featured on the very first episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, it's known for the pork chili verde omelet and Bloody Marys. Open daily 6 AMβ2 PM. Weekends can have a wait.
π MapGiant portions built for sharing (the sage fried chicken and waffles is famous). The LINQ location is center Strip and the Plaza location is at the end of Fremont Street. Reservations accepted.
WebsiteBest: early morning for short lines, or after dark when it's lit
Use the median parking lot. Shoot slightly from the side so the whole group fits without blocking "Las Vegas."
Best: after dark, from the rail or the Eiffel Tower window
Switch your phone to video for the finale burst. From Eiffel Tower Restaurant, you'll capture the whole lake from above.
Best: early evening before it's packed
Stand at the base of the Chandelier and shoot up through the crystal strands, or capture a candid toast on Level 1.5.
Best: morning, in the soft light before crowds
Walk 50+ yards back into the desert to frame all seven towers against the mountains. For close-ups, have Lacy stand between two towers in a bright outfit.
Friday golden hourBest: late afternoon, before the sun drops behind the ridges
The color fades earlier than official sunset, so arrive at the Fire Wave early. Drones are not allowed in the park.
Best: right at the top of the hour when a show starts
Shoot straight up from the middle of the street for a full-frame light show, then catch the SlotZilla riders flying past.
Friday morningBest: morning light
The bridge walkway gives you the full face of the dam. It's a short uphill walk from the parking area, so wear real shoes.

Justina, I hope you all have the BEST time celebrating Lacy! I know you already had some great ideas for this trip, so I wanted to pull everything together and add a few things you might not have thought about. You definitely don't have to do it all, but now you've got plenty of options to make the most of your time in Vegas! Have so much fun!
